In order to study small coal column miing technology, small coal pillar along gob-side roadway and effect of coal recovery were discussed. The result showed keeping small coal pillar was the special development for gob-side mining. Yanzishan Mine in south suburb of Datong was taken as an example, numeric calculation was applied to show the optimal width of small coal pillar.
