Abstract Pulongwan No.5110 Face adopts top coal caving mining, coal seam mining intensity is larger. In order to achieve safe mining, the factors affecting mining are analyzed, mainly including geological structure, hydrogeology and gas. The results show that the No.2 and No.6 abnormal areas formed by the fault with a drop of 4.5 m have a greater impact on mining, and groundwater and gas have less impact on mining. When crossing the fault, appropriate measures should be taken according to the detection results of the fault. Considering the high intensity of mining, mine pressure should also be monitored during mining.
