Abstract The mining roadway of No.2 Coal Seam in Chiyu Mine was a semi-coal-rock roadway, which was affected by deep high stress and deformation of the roadway was large. It was difficult to ensure the stability of the roadway by ordinary bolt-net-cable support. It was urgent to optimize the roadway support parameters. According to different supporting parameters, three schemes were designed. The method of numerical simulation was used to compare and analyze the stress, displacement and failure laws of surrounding rock under different supporting parameters, and the optimal supporting scheme was obtained. The results showed that: (1) The maximum principal stress of the working face was obliquely crossed with the roadway at a large angle. The support strength of the original support plan was relatively low, and could not effectively control the deformation of the surrounding rock. Large deformation and failure was prone to occur in local and roof and floor of the roadway. (2) The obtained optimal plan could not only effectively control the deformation of surrounding rock, but also had lower support cost and relatively improved economic benefits. There was great significance in the support optimization of roadway with the same or similar geological conditions in this area.
