Abstract Aiming at the problems of high investment in materials and accessories, high personnel investment, large amount of empty roof, large mining influence, and unfavorable management of roof in the single construction of large-section roadway by using continuous coal winning machine and intellectualized driving and anchor machine in Ciyaogou Coal Industry, the construction of large-section open-off cut roadway was designed. The diversified tunneling process of large-section was constructed by using the bridge loader equipped with the tunneling-anchoring machine. The tunneling process and support scheme could be selected according to the terrain, coal seam, roof and floor conditions. Many unfavorable factors brought by other tunneling processes could be solved, and the original tunneling process was changed. There was broad promotional value of the tunneling process with intellectualized driving and anchor machine in the coal mine where conditions permitted.
