Abstract In view of the problem that the roof caving of goaf in 13102 working face of Ciyaogou Coal Mine is not timely to form a large area of hanging roof during the initial mining period, which brings great security risks to the safety production of the working face, combined with the geological conditions of the working face, the mining method and the actual situation of the site, the high pressure hydraulic fracturing roof cutting pressure relief technology is proposed. The field application practice shows that after the roof is treated by high pressure hydraulic fracturing, the initial caving step of the main roof is reduced by 30 m during the initial mining period of the working face. With the advance of the working face, the roof of the goaf can collapse in time, and the working face realizes safe mining.
