Abstract In order to ensure the safe mining, based on the water-filling conditions of mines in the Jurassic coalfield, which is the majority of the northwestern part of the country, and the Xinshanghai No. 1 Mine was taken as an example to investigate the hydrogeological conditions, the characteristics of the mine aquifer and water barrier were identified, the water conductivity of the fault, the characteristics of the mine water-filling sources, water-filling channels, water-filling aquifers (direct and interrogated), the top and bottom plates of the mined coal seam, as well as the topography, climate, surface water bodies, and coal mining were analyzed to identify the conditions of water-filled mines.
