Abstract In order to ensure the stability of the soft rock strata in recovery mining at 8108 working face of Xinxing Mine, the structural characteristics and deformation characteristics of the soft rock strata were analyzed. On this basis, the control principle was proposed, and a detailed support design was given, and the preliminary verification of the support scheme was carried out by using FLAC 3D software. The field application showed that the roof-to-floor convergence of 8108 transportation roadway was shifted closer by 130 mm, without separation layer in deep roof, which met the production demand and provided reference for the support of the roadway under similar conditions.
