Macrolides have been applied to the treatment of infectious diseases owing to their good efficacy and high safety. The research and development for all kinds of new antimicrobial drugs have been accelerated with the rapid increase of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria. The recent progress of the representatives and the other third generation macrolides , including ketolides antibiotics,acylide antibiotics,azalide antibiotics and clinic application in infectious diseases,respiratory disease,digestive system disease  were introduced.It was point out that  the  foreign patent technologies and products should be avorided，the high technology content, high value-added new products should be developed in order to promote the researches of the domestic macrolide antibiotics into the rapid development period.
