Abstract By adding denitrifying bacteria in the ammoniated wastewater, a small test was respectively made on the secondary sedimentation tank effluent in the wastewater treatment process of a coking plant and a amino acid factory. The removal cases for different concentrations of ammonia-containing wastewater after adding denitrifying bacteria were studied. The results show that before adding denitrifying bacteria, the ammonia removal rate of wastewater is only 37% by using biological contact oxidation; after adding denitrifying bacteria, the ammonia removal rates of low and high concentration of ammonia-containing wastewater are more than 96%, ammonia removal efficiency is significantly improved.
