Abstract In order to find out the reservoir strata characteristics of coalbed methane in Santang syncline of Zhina coalfield in Guizhou, the comprehensive analysis of indoor experiment and logging curve analysis was carried out by outcrop, logging, well test and other data. The research showed that the main coal bearing strata in Santang syncline was Longtan Formation, the number of coal strata was many and thin, the coal body structure was mainly cataclastic coal and primary structural coal, the gas content of the main coal seam was 8.98 ~ 18.05 m3/t, the porosity was 1.47% ~ 7.67 %, the permeability was 0.027 1 ~ 0.21 mD, the joint fracture connectivity was good, and the micro-fracture was developed and partially filled. The result obtained in this study provided a reference for the selection of fracturing geological strata in the subsequent large-scale development of coalbed methane in Santang syncline, which had certain guiding significance.
