Abstract In order to realize the reasonable and rapid transportation of ground solid materials to the underground, Xingdong Mine designed a large-diameter solid material vertical feeding hole in line with the principles of low cost, short construction period, and simple and reliable system. By calculating the maximum particle diameter of solid material and the required feeding amount per unit time, the inner diameter of the feeding hole is comprehensively determined. The structure and wall thickness of the feeding pipe were determined by studying the horizontal movement speed of the filling material, the collision angle between the solid material and the feeding pipe, and the total amount of feeding. The final practice shows that the designed vertical feeding hole can meet the requirements of use, and the cost is low, which ensures the efficient vertical transportation of ground solid materials in Xingdong Mine.
