Abstract In order to optimize the coal quality analysis method in the process of coal preparation to improve the economic benefits of coal, the coal preparation plant of Donghuantuo mine is taken as the object. The coal seams with similar properties are homogenized by multi-layer coal quality analysis method, and compared with the advantages and disadvantages of traditional analysis methods. It is found that the coal seams with similar properties of industrial index, particle size composition and float-sink composition can share the same coal quality data for analysis. Compared with the traditional layer-by-layer weighted analysis method, the simplified analysis method can greatly improve the analysis efficiency and reduce the analysis error.
