Abstract The No.2171 fully mechanized caving face of Hengda Mine is affected by Ping 'an F1 and F2 faults. The geological structure is complex and there are many associated faults. Single three-dimensional seismic detection can not find out the specific situation. In response to this problem, Hengda Mine used ZYWL-15000DS directional drilling rig to construct directional long boreholes for accurate detection. The existing roadway was used to construct proven structural boreholes to the complex geological structure area of the mining area boundary, and the area involved in the No.2171 Face was comprehensively detected. The practice showed that the regional geological structure of No.2171 Face was proved by directional long drilling rig, and the mining conditions were determined, which provided favorable geological reference conditions for the subsequent working face layout.
