Abstract After the formation of goaf in coal mining, the surface will move. In order to control the surface subsidence area, we must grasp the law of surface subsidence. This paper took Hongxing Mine as the research object, and obtained the surface subsidence value by establishing the trend observation station and the inclination observation station in No.29106 face. The analysis and research showed that there were some differences in the surface subsidence curve in the direction of trend and the direction of inclination. The trend maximum subsidence was 2 112 mm, and the inclination maximum subsidence was 1 222 mm. The surface strata movement had obvious time effect and lasted for 810 days. The research results provided basic data for the management of surface subsidence area.
