Abstract In order to solve the problem of poor coal seam permeability and unsatisfactory pre-drainage effect in Zhaozhuang Coal Mine, based on the stress distribution characteristics around the borehole, a reasonable hole spacing and arrangement can be selected to make the stress superposition effect of the two boreholes, increase the plastic zone range, effectively cover the coal body area between the two boreholes, and improve the coal seam permeability and drainage efficiency. The extraction radius was investigated, and the pre-extraction borehole spacing was designed according to the results of the extraction radius. In the 1308 working face of Zhaozhuang Coal Mine, three kinds of hole arrangement methods, ordinary parallel drilling, parallel encryption drilling and three-dimensional cross drilling, were carried out. The comparison of extraction effects showed that the three-dimensional cross drilling hole arrangement method had the best extraction effect. The secondary repair test of the failed borehole was carried out by means of hydraulic hole washing and lowering the screen pipe. After the repair, the average extraction amount of the borehole was increased by 4.2 times, which effectively prolonged the effective extraction time of the borehole and improved the extraction effect.
