Abstract According to the current domestic and foreign current roadway surrounding rock loose circle test technology, the advantages and disadvantages of the widely used test technology were discussed and analyzed, and the development trend was predicted. Through comparative analysis, it was seen that the ultrasonic method was stable and reliable, and the instrument could be recycled for many times, but the test workload was large and it was not suitable for use in soft rock strata. The geological radar method and the borehole camera method had high test accuracy, and the test equipment was easy to carry, but the price was expensive. The multi-point displacement meter method could monitor the displacement of surrounding rock in real time but required a large number of borehole measuring points, and the measurement accuracy was poor. The seismic wave method had high test accuracy but difficult to install the probe. Resistivity method was a fast and economical non-destructive testing technology. Each test method had limitations and should be used according to local conditions.
