Abstract In the context of intelligent construction of coal mines, the research and development of mining sensor technology is an important way to guarantee the safe production of coal mines and enhance the level of intelligence. The current status and problems of mining sensor technology development in China were summarized, and four common technologies were proposed for anti-electromagnetic interference technology, laser gas detection technology, sensor self-diagnosis technology and sensor low-power design technology that needed to be solved urgently. Four future development directions of mining sensors were summarized, namely, the development of new sensors with materials and processes; the development of integrated intelligent sensors; the miniaturization of sensing technology hardware systems and components; and the promotion of wireless sensor networks for mining.
