Abstract The low concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater was treated with solid supported AC/TiO2 as photocatalyst, using ozone photocatalytic method in a continuous flow photocatalytic reactor. The influences of light source, ozone flow rate and catalyst amount on the treatment effect were investigated. The results show that under the condition of 12 W total light source, 30 mg/min of ozone and 10 g/L of AC/TiO2 catalyst [w (TiO2) = 1.92%], the ammonia nitrogen wastewater with initial concentration of 35 mg/L and pH=11 was treated when the hydraulic retention time was 60 min, the removal rate of total nitrogen in the wastewater is not less then 90%. After 15 hours continuous operation of the reactor, the active materials of catalyst do not run off.
