Abstract n recent years, the domestic air pollution is also increasingly serious, energy dependence on foreign countries is increasing, in order to improve this situation, the state has increased policy support for new energy, new materials and other strategic emerging industries. The recent development of new materials and new energy for automobile in China was summarized, the sources of raw materials, advantages and disadvantages of various new materials and new energy in automobile industry were analyzed, it is pointed out that new materials and new energy can not replace the dominant position of oil in automobile field in the short term. The development direction of new materials and new energy in automobile field is firstly to promote ethanol gasoline and secondly to develop electric vehicles; the new material and new energy market of automobile will be the world of electric energy and hydrogen fuel cell in the long run.
