Abstract As an accurate geophysical detection method, the high-density resistivity method can realize the continuous measurement of micro-disturbance and multi-scale of the strata. The change of soil surface water content characterized by high-density resistivity method was studied. The relationship model of resistivity and water content of surface loam was obtained by experiment, it provides a reference for the application of resistivity method to characterize soil surface water content, and it is proved that the the relationship model of resistivity and water content is not suitable for the soil with clay interlayer.
