Abstract In view of the problems of near coal seam distance, difficult support and serious waste of resources in Ningwuzhuangwang mining area, according to the conditions of coal seam occurrence, from the technical and economic point of view, field investigation, theoretical analysis and experimental testing, etc. were adopted. The coal, physicochemical and mechanical properties of coal and rock were tested and compared. The method of optimizing the coal seam mining sequence in Ningwuzhuangwang mining area was systematically studied and applied in the field. The research results showed that the average thickness of coal-bearing strata in Ningwuzhuangwang mining area was 152.78 m, with 8 layers of coal, the average total thickness of coal seam was 23.98 m, the coal-bearing coefficient was 15.70%, and the recoverable coal seam mainly Taiyuan Group No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 , No. 6 coal seam, the optimized coal seam mining sequence was No. 2 coal seam, making 1 mining area and two mining face achieve the production capacity. The research results were applied on-site, with significant economic and social benefits. It also had certain reference value and significance for coal mines with similar conditions.
