Abstract In view of the large collapse column in the 2-106 working face of Huobao Ganhe Mine, which affected the safe production of mines, restricted mechanized production, reduced the recoverable amount and the mine benefits, through on-site investigation and analysis of the existing fully mechanized mining face through the collapse column. The method and characteristics of the 2-106 fully mechanized mining face over the large collapse column were determined, and the underground industrial experiment was carried out. The results showed that the adoption of reasonable over-large collapse column technical measures ensured that the working face could pass the collapse column safely and efficiently, with safe and efficient production of the working face, and achieved remarkable economic and social benefits.
