Abstract The treatment of chromium (VI) —containing wastewater by immobilized chlorella was studied, and the optimum immobilization conditions and wastewater treatment conditions were obtained, and the kinetic fitting of the adsorption process was carried out. The results showed that when 4% sodium alginate and 3% algae solution were mixed and dripped into 2% calcium chloride solution, the chlorella beads fixed for 3 hours had the best effect on the treatment of hexavalent chromium, when the concentration of wastewater was 10 mg/L, the dosage of chlorella beads was 6.5%, the treatment time was 240 minutes and pH value was 5, the removal effect of chromium-containing treated by wastewater immobilized chlorella was better. The adsorption characteristics were fitted by quasi-first-order and quasi-second-order kinetic equation models, and it was found that the adsorption characteristics were in accordance with the quasi-first-order kinetic equation.
