Abstract The quality characteristics of desulfurization wastewater from coal-fired power plants were introduced. Five kinds of technologies including coagulation and precipitation,wastewater reuse, pretreatment + concentrated and crystallization + solid waste treatment, flue treatment, microfiltration / ultrafiltration + reverse osmosis that have been using in actual projects were explained, and the advantages and disadvantages of the above technologies were analyzed. In view of the fact that the desulfurization wastewater from coal-fired power plants has many problems, such as large differences in wastewater pollution components, high hardness and easily scaling and corrosion, a further development of the combined technology is proposed to achieve near-zero or zero emission of desulfurization wastewater, which is the future development direction of desulfurization wastewater treatment technology in coal-fired power plants.
