Abstract The hydraulic support is an important component of comprehensive mechanized mining in coal mines, concentrated liquid is the main transmission medium of hydraulic supports in major coal mines. The foam produced by concentrated liquid is an important factor affecting the stable operation of hydraulic supports. It is necessary to control the generation and elimination of foam by adding defoamer. In this paper, the type, use characteristics and defoaming mechanism of defoamer were discussed. The performance requirements and application process of defoamer for concentrated liquid were introduced, providing reference for the selection and use of defoamer in concentrated liquid.
