Abstract Coal flotation is the most effective way to improve the quality of coal by fine slime separation. The mechanism and classification of hydrocarbon flotation collector were introduced and the characteristics of various collectors were briefly described. The industrial application of FJ compound coal flotation reagent, TDS collector, ZFC emulsion flotation reagent, ZH compound flotation reagent and N9836 etc. were introduced. The advantages of these new collectors were pointed out by the comparsion of dosage of reagent,yield of clean coal and combustible recovery etc. of new indicators reagents and traditional flotation collector. The development status and direction of flotation collectors were also summarized.
