Abstract Lauric acid imidazoline and quaternary ammonium salt,corrosion inhibitors,were synthesized by two-step dehydration with lauric acid, diethyletriamine and sodium chloride raw materiasl.The influnces of resolvent, reactant ratio, reflux reaction time and inhibitor concentration on corrosion inhibition effect were studied by using method of static coupon and polarization curves. The process conditions of the quaternary ammonium were optimized.The optimal conditions include the molar ratio of lauric acid imidazoline to sodium chloride is 1∶2.1, reflux reaction time is 8 hours and solvent is isopropanol. Under the optimal conditions, the corrosion rate is 0.4142mm/a and the inhibition efficiency is 84.5%.
