Abstract The distillation column dynamic simulation study is very important for defining an upper bound of time from startup to steady state for the system, the stantup dynamic simulation study provides theoretical guidance for product quality control schemes and the control strategy. Based on the rigorous thermodynamic simulation, the dynamic behavior of distillation column with the lateral line during start-up operations were studied for a hydrogen isotope system and the influnces of the startup strategy on the startup time were analyzed. The dynamic characteristics of the column with the later line with hydrogen isotope system were studied as well.
