Abstract Based on the overlying multi-strata spatial structure theory and the dominant stratum theory, the stress distribution of isolated island working face before and during mining by the numerical simulation technology was simulated. The simulation results showed that in some special mining stages such as the first weighting step, square and other specific mining stages appeared with the phenomenon of stress concentration and rock bursts easily happened. Based on the above content, simulation of the working face impact ground pressure hazard area was predicted, and the corresponding control measures were put forward, by the comparison with the actual situation of rock bursts occurred in mining process, the result showed the predicable method was feasible and provided a reliable basis for the prediction and verification of rock bursts.
