Abstract Large mining height working face coal wall stability was one of the main factors restricting the safe and high efficient mining, taking a mining face as an example, based on the analysis on the geological conditions and the numerical simulation analysis of large mining height working face coal wall rib spalling prevention and control, based on this， the flipper size was designed, mine pressure observation results showed that support plate was effective obviously to large mining height coal wall spalling.
