Abstract In order to effectively improve the tunneling efficiency of coal and rock roadway in the fully mechanized excavation face of Kouzidong Mine and reduce the excavation time affected by drilling and exploration, the advanced detection technology with excavation was implemented in No.140505 Face of the mine, which improved the working efficiency and exploration accuracy of the two operation methods of excavation with exploration and excavation after exploration. It could efficiently monitor and evaluate the information of the structure and fracture zone in front of the excavation, timely and accurately achieve geological prediction and abnormal information monitoring and control, and ensure the quality and safety of roadway construction. The practical application in the air roadway and open-off cut of No.140505 Face showed that the exploration and prediction of the location of abnormal bodies including faults and fracture zones was basically consistent with the actual uncovered faults and the location of faults analyzed by geological prospecting and geophysical prospecting. The error met the safety requirements of tunneling, and had high prediction accuracy and reliability.
