Abstract Due to the existence of F12 fault in 7700 mining area of Xingtai Mine, No.2 coal waterproof coal pillar was set up. In order to liberate the coal resources in the coal pillar area, the ground regional control technology was proposed for exploration and grouting transformation. Through the directional drilling technology, the F12 fault was finely surveyed and its water conductivity was analyzed. The grouting control project scheme was designed, and the three-dimensional control mode was adopted to carry out grouting transformation of the Ordovician limestone aquifer. After the implementation of the project, it was found that the F12 fault migrated to the interior of the mine boundary, and the hydrogeological conditions were complex. There was no obvious effect on the optimization of the grouting process. Considering the difficulty of engineering construction and economic benefits, it was recommended that the project should be suspended.
