Abstract During the production of underground mining and excavating operation in coal mine, in order to avoid the underground water outburst accident caused by the destruction of the stability of the original coal ( rock ) layer ( water exploration line ) by water in old goaf under the action of high water pressure, this paper analyzed the influence of mining and excavating failure and the mechanism of water outburst in old goaf, and put forward the prevention and control measures of ' the same coal seam, the range of water conduction fracture zone in goaf area was not connected with the range of water conduction fracture zone in mining coal seam, and sufficient water-retaining rock pillar was ensured'. The reasonable calculation method was determined by fully considering the relevant factors including the water head value in goaf water accumulation area, the thickness and strength of coal ( rock ) layer, the movement law of rock layer and the water conduction fracture zone formed after coal mining. Thus, the size of the waterproof coal ( rock ) column in the old goaf was calculated. The method was correct and could achieve the purpose of safety warning and mine safety.
