Abstract The 15317 fully-mechanized caving face of Shanxi Xinjing Mine belongs to class II spontaneous combustion coal seam. In order to ensure the safe advance speed, it is necessary to measure the spontaneous combustion ' three zones ' in the goaf. This measurement uses the critical oxygen concentration index of coal spontaneous combustion to divide, and uses the beam tube monitoring and monitoring technology to measure the oxygen concentration in the goaf during the mining period of 15317 fully mechanized caving face, and accordingly divides the ' three zones ' of spontaneous combustion in the goaf. At the same time, the minimum safe advancing speed of the working face is calculated, which provides data support for the safe mining of the working face.
