Abstract Aiming at the serious problem of deformation and failure of No.12201 transportation roadway, combined with the actual occurrence environment of No.11 and No.12 close distance coal seams in Shuangma No.1 Mine, FLAC3D software was used to analyze the stress evolution law of surrounding rock in roadway excavation and face mining. The simulation results showed that during the roadway excavation, the two sides had asymmetric stress increase area. After the mining of No.12201 Face was stable, the goaf side of the transportation roadway was converted into a stress reduction area, and the lateral abutment pressure of the solid coal side was significantly increased under the action of multiple disturbances. According to the simulation results, the roadway support was optimized. Full anchor cable support was adopted in roadway side and increased the support density. The field measurement showed that the deformation of the surrounding rock of the two sides was stable at 300 mm for one hundred days, and the deformation of the roof was stable at 200 mm. The optimized support scheme obviously reduced the deformation of the surrounding rock of the roadway, the anchorage ring of the roadway was stable, and the deformation of the surrounding rock was effectively controlled.
