Abstract In view of the old geological exploration data of Tong 'an Coal Industry, in order to ensure the safe mining of the first mining area of the mine, the supplementary exploration of ground drilling was carried out. During the exploration, a total of three surface boreholes were constructed, with a length of 1 636 m. Geological drilling and digital physical logging were used. The results of supplementary exploration showed that the No.4 coal seam in the first mining area was dominated by carbon dioxide-nitrogen zone, and the water inflow during mining reached 530.34 m3/d. The compressive strength of fine-grained sandstone in the roof was higher than that of the initial exploration results. This supplementary exploration laid a foundation for the future safe and efficient mining of Tong 'an Coal Industry.
