Abstract The reasonable determination of parameters such as anchor pre-stress, length, density, angle, and anchoring method restricts the safety of underground roadway support in coal mines. To ensure the safety, efficiency, and economic support of underground tunnels, the return air roadway in the second mining area of Sihou Mine was taken as an example, based on the systematic testing of various geological parameters, numerical simulation methods were used to analyze the anchor support effect of each parameter, revealing the optimal combination of various parameters during anchor support, A complete technical system for roadway anchor support had been established. The research results indicated that effective diffusion of pre-stress was the key to support design, and increasing pre-stress could appropriately reduce the length of anchor rods; The diffusion effect of anchor prestress was not obvious when the support density was excessively increased; The maximum angle of the angle anchor rod should not exceed 10°; The effect of full length anchoring and extended anchoring was worse than that of end anchoring.
