Abstract In order to study the applicability of comprehensive caving mine technology in ‘two soft and one hard’ unstable coal seams, Yunmei No.2 Mine was taken as an example, numerical simulation was conducted on the movement law of the overlying strata and the stress distribution law of the surrounding rock in the stope after mining, and the working resistance of the hydraulic support in the stope and the advance support pressure of the mining roadway were monitored. The numerical simulation results were consistent with the observation data of the mine pressure, indicating that the periodic weighting of the main roof was significant, with a weighting step distance of about 17 ~ 20 m, The influence range of advanced bearing pressure was 0 ~ 39 m. The safe and efficient implementation of comprehensive mining technology in ‘two soft and one hard’ unstable coal seams had produced significant economic and social benefits.
