Abstract Roof cutting parameter is the key to the success of goaf tunneling under the condition of thick and hard roof, and the variation of parameters affects the stability of roadway surrounding rock. In this paper, No.19101 Face of Yunjialing Mine was taken as the engineering background, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20° four angles and 5 m, 9 m, 11 m, 13 m four different cutting top height scheme were designed by UDEC numerical simulation. The variation law of roof subsidence with different cutting angles and heights was analyzed, and the optimal parameters of cutting height and cutting angle were 11m and 10° respectively. The field blasting test showed that the optimum blasting hole distance was 600 mm.
