Abstract In recent years, the new requirements of the state for safety production and environmental protection have become more and more strict, especially the use of explosive sources has become more and more restrictive. In the area where the safety production situation is severe, the use of initiating explosive devices is limited, and the existing other types of sources cannot meet the requirements of seismic exploration construction, the application of seismic exploration methods is greatly limited. Controlled shock wave technology is a new technology based on pulse power technology. This technology has the characteristics of controllable amplitude and impulse, unlimited working area and reusability. In this paper, the controllable shock wave technology and its development process were briefly introduced, Seismic wave excitation test was carried out with improved existing controllable shock wave equipment as seismic source. And the quantitative analysis of the obtained seismic data was carried out. The results showed that the controllable shock wave technology could be applied to the field of seismic exploration, and the technical problems that need to be improved in the current controllable shock wave equipment were put forward.
