Abstract In order to study the technical characteristics of safe and efficient mining of working face under aquifer, taking No.2S202 face of Taitou Qianwan Coal Industry as the engineering background, the influence of upper aquifer on mining face under aquifer was discussed from two aspects of water conduction fracture zone and mining pressure appearance law. The combination methods of transient electromagnetic exploration technology, roof advanced water exploration and drainage technology and reasonable mining of working face were used to comprehensively control the water damage of No.2S202 face, which had achieved good results in terms of water drainage and roadway stability. The study provided practical basis for safe mining of working face under similar conditions.
