Abstract In the exploration area with large thickness difference of eolian sand caprock in desert, according to the sectional test of caprock thickness and investigation of low speed zone, the reasonable well depth and dosage in the exploration area were determined, so as to improve the resolution of single shot and broaden the frequency band, which could obtain the best excitation factors meeting the requirements of geological tasks, and ensure the acquisition of seismic raw data with high signal to noise ratio and resolution. The study would lay the foundation for identifying the geological structure and coal seam occurrence form in the exploration area and completing the geological task.
