Abstract In order to accurately survey the actual morphology of the mine goaf, taking goaf of Yungang Mine as the research object, the 3D laser scanning technology was used to collect data, and the point cloud data were spliced, filtered, streamlined, mesh repaired, and other processing. The results showed that the point cloud data of goaf could be obtained in a short time by using the 3D laser scanner, which improved the working efficiency of survey. According to the actual survey model, goaf was successfully treated during the actual survey in the later stage, which provided a guarantee for the safe production of the mine.
