Abstract In order to study deformation law of surrounding rock of roadway in long fully mechanized caving face, in view of the problems in gob-side entry retaining such as high advanced stress stress, obvious deformation and destruction, the characteristics of long along the empty left lane of full-mechanized caving mining face and surrounding rock stress distribution was analyzed by the method of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and the method of industrial experiments. The stress distribution and deformation law of roadway were concluded and the existing support scheme was optimized. Based on the analysis of the deformation and stress transfer of the surrounding rock of the gob-side entry retaining in the fully mechanized caving face of Gucheng Mine, the reinforcement scheme is given: the roof advanced "one beam and three columns" support, the coal supplementary short anchor cable, the floor advanced casting of the soft film base to control the soft film wall tilt and the penetration of the coal bottom. The results showed that the maximum floor heave deformation of roadway was 200mm, and the coal wall heave output was about 80mm, and the overall supporting effect was good.
