Abstract Niu'erzhuang mine is scheduled to be closed in 2021, and the mine closure will lead to the waste of 3.348 million t of recoverable resources in the industrial square coal column. In order to guarantee the safe mining of the remaining reserves of the adjacent Dashe Mine (there is a water crossing between the two mines), it is still necessary to retain the mine drainage system, which will still generate drainage costs of more than 48 million RMB per year. In order to avoid the waste of coal resources and ensure the safe mining of the remaining reserves of the Dashe Mine, a study on the overburdened mining plan of the industrial plaza was proposed, and in this paper, comparative arguments were made from "shaft layout" and "mining technology" respectively, the final decision was to adopt the "new safety slant shaft + full mining without filling scheme". The analysis results showed that this solution can recover more than 3 million tons of coal resources, extend the mine life by 6.1 a, and improve the safety of production in the mine and adjacent mines.
