| Statistical analysis and application of fracture fractal dimension based on MAPGIS |

Abstract One of the important indexes for quantitative evaluation of fault structure is the fracturefractal dimension, which can effectively and accurately describe the complexity of fault structure. In order to solve the problems of complicated and heavy workload of previous statistical calculation methods, based on MAPGIS platform, the fault data was extracted by using its processing and analysis function, and the grid unit was divided by using MAPGIS auxiliary software section, the quantitative evaluation method of fast calculating fractal dimension value of mine fault was optimized. According to the fractal theory and the definition formula, the fracture fractal dimension values were calculated, the feasibility was verified in a mine of Shanxi Province, the fractal dimension was 1.1595, and the correlation coefficient was above 0.97. The results showed that the method of calculating fracture fractal dimension by MAPGIS was simple and operable.
