Abstract In order to solve the problem of long time and tension in the excavation connection, the construction of directional drilling was given in the roadway by taking the advantages of long distance, large aperture and controllable trajectory of directional drilling, so as to pump the gas in the roadway strip in advance and accurately, which shortened the extraction time and solved the tension in the excavation connection. It is feasible to use the directional drilling rig to construct the floor comb borehole to pre-pump the gas in the roadway strip, and the single group of floor comb boreholes can effectively cover the 70 m length of coal roadway strip, and the pre-pumping effect of the borehole was twice as effective as the common borehole.
