Abstract In order to solve the problems of high gas content, poor gas permeability, and low drainage efficiency in the No. 3 coal seam of the main mining of Changcun Mine, effective anti-permeability measures were adopted to improve the drainage effect. In this paper, by determining the drilling parameters and layout methods, a hydraulic cavitation test was conducted in the auxiliary air return roadway of the 2302 working face. Field practice results showed that the drainage concentration of hydraulic cavitation drilling was 5.8 times that of non-cavitation drilling, and the total cumulative gas extraction was increased by 9.0 times. Hydraulic cavitation technology greatly improved the permeability of coal seams, with obvious effect.
