Abstract In order to save the support cost at the same time when the surrounding rock of the 16502 working face was stable, the support effects of the bolts were simulated using FLAC3D numerical simulation software. The results of numerical simulation determined the optimization measures to increase the length of the anchor rod, the distance between the anchor cables and the pretension force of the anchor cable and the initial tensile force, and reduce the number of sections of the anchor cable. Mine pressure monitoring verified the effectiveness of the optimized support scheme. The results showed that after the implementation of the optimized support scheme, the maximum approach amount of the top and bottom plates during mining was 74 mm, and the maximum deformation of the two sides was 69mm, which ensured the stability of the surrounding rock of the roadway and effectively saved the support cost.
