The PSA analytical gas compressor, as the critical equipment connecting the PSA hydrogen production unit with the H2/CO separation cold box, directly affects the recovery rate of effective gases such as hydrogen and carbon monoxide, the thermal balance of the cold box, and production costs. For the commissioning and operational issues encountered with the PSA analytical gas compressor in the process conversion and purification unit of China National Chemical Inner Mongolia New Materials Corporation Ltd.'s 300,000 t/a ethylene glycol project, the causes and proposes improvements for weld cracks on secondary balance pipes, startup failures under hot conditions, and fractures at the junction between the unit body and the exhaust pipelines were analyzed. The suggestions on equipment manufacturing, pipeline welding, latent defects, and the difficulty of hot start-up were offered, which provided certain references and inspirations for commissioning and operation in similar plants and devices within the industry.
